From Awareness to Action: A Personal Journey into Sustainability
From oil and gas to sustainability — why climate change is a collective challenge, and how small shifts in awareness lead to meaningful, lasting change.

When I first started working in the oil and gas industry, climate change wasn't part of our everyday conversations. Our focus was clear: safety, efficiency, and delivering complex projects on time.
Over the years, across pipelines, construction sites, and large international projects — I began to see a much bigger picture. Energy was never just about production. It was always about impact.
Today, that impact is impossible to ignore. Climate change is no longer something discussed only in reports or conferences. It is here, shaping how we build, operate, and live. Rising temperatures, extreme weather, and evolving regulations are no longer abstract risks. Businesses and communities are already experiencing them.
And more importantly, this is not just a business challenge. It is a collective one.
Beyond Industry: A Shared Responsibility
Industries play a critical role in reducing emissions. But real transformation goes beyond companies. It requires individuals — our awareness, our choices, and our actions. What we consume, how we live, and what we prioritize all contribute to the future we are shaping.
At Persustain, we talk about change often, not because it sounds good, but because it is necessary. This is not about eliminating industries. It is about transforming them to fit a low-carbon world.
Having spent years in traditional energy and construction, I know change doesn't happen overnight. But I also know this: the organizations and communities that adapt early will lead the future.
A New Standard for Business
The global push for climate action, supported by frameworks like the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, is setting a new benchmark:
Transparency is expected
Sustainability must be measurable
Accountability belongs to everyone
But let's be honest. It can feel overwhelming. Where do you start? How do you track progress? How do you balance growth with responsibility? And how do you bring people along on this journey?
Why We Built Persustain
We created Persustain to help answer these questions. This journey is deeply personal for me. I've seen how complex large-scale operations can be. I've worked in environments where decisions directly impact safety, the environment, and financial outcomes.
And I've also seen something powerful: even small shifts in awareness can lead to meaningful change. That's why sustainability shouldn't feel like a burden. It should be embedded in how we think, decide, and act — whether as businesses or individuals. It should be:
Simple
Practical
Actionable
An Opportunity, Not Just a Challenge
Climate change is one of the greatest challenges of our time. But it is also an opportunity — an opportunity to rethink how we create value, not just for businesses, but for communities and future generations.
If there's one thing I've learned throughout my career, it's this: real change doesn't start with perfect answers. It starts with awareness. And it grows when we move forward together.
